The interaction between droplets and the vortex ring after a shock wave

To elucidate the characteristics of droplet breakup induced by a shock wave and vortex ring behind shock, experiments were conducted with water various glycerol mixtures under different Mach numbers. High-speed visualization system, pressure testing laser particle analyzer applied to record interaction process between droplets after wave. The results show that two stages are identified, including droplet-shock droplet-vortex interaction. Small clusters separated from mother will exhibit “white dot” “swing arms” structures when subjected vortical flow. At high numbers, which generate strong circulation, centrifugal force rotation cause deformation fragmentation. However, higher viscosity impede stretching effect flow, resulting in less Our data could provide valuable insights into internal combustion engines other industrial operations.

A Study on the Behavior of Shock Wave and Vortex Ring Discharged from a Pipe

In this paper, the behavior of shock wave discharged from the pipe end is studied. The shock wave is generated using the shock tube (MO-tube). The flow field while the shock moves downstream is visualized using shadow photography and schlieren photography.
